Secret Diary of a Call Girl 1x05

Halfway through season one and things are picking up. Ben knows the truth now which is definitely a turning point in the show. Let’s get started!

Thoughts While Watching

  • The bridal shop lady is right. Shopping for my wedding dress was a nightmare because I’m fat.
  • Stephanie says here that Belle put down no to watersports but it shows her doing it in the first episode of season two. So gross. Yeah, I know, I’m so judgmental. Oh well. Gross is gross. The toilet thing last episode was gross and watersports is gross too.
  • Aw, poor Hannah. She definitely seemed sad when Ben said that about her not being the bride in that tone of voice. And she’s trying to hide it.
  • Oh, it’s legal in the UK? Interesting. It’s not legal here in most parts of the U.S.
  • Aw, Belle seems so possessive and almost in love with Ashok. It’s kind of sad.
  • So…does this mean that Naomi goes by her real name when she’s working? Or did she want Hannah to trust her enough to tell her her real name but doesn’t want to reveal her own yet?
  • I feel genuinely bad for her. She’s definitely taking this as a breakup. I don’t know how I feel about the fact that she stopped being friends with Naomi over it though.
  • Aw, I love that Ben’s the one she turns to every time things don’t go well for her. And I love that Ben tells her she looked good in the wedding dress. So cute.
  • I mentioned in a previous post, but I have a friend that I have a very Hannah/Ben type relationship with and he was my best man too. It’s always awkward when you do that though, I know from experience. It’s cute though that Ben asked her to be his best man. Poor Vanessa though.

Final Thoughts

I like this episode! Naomi was okay for one episode, but I’m glad she didn’t stick around. I love seeing Hannah/Belle have a female friend she can bond with but Bambi fits that role soooo much better when she comes on the show later on. Naomi’s personality kind of grated on me. She’s too rough around the edges.

Robin Hood 3x09 "A Dangerous Deal"

I think this episode is the Meg episode and if so I remember liking it so I'm excited to get started on this one! Let's begin! Thoughts While Watching So Robin’s sneaking in on Isabella in her bedroom and confronts her about becoming the new sheriff and Isabella immediately points out how rare it is for a woman to have a chance to get power like that. I know she’s crazy and going on a downward spiral to the dark side and will ultimately extremely screw over one of my favorite characters (Allan), but you know what, good for her. She’s right.  Wait, why would she fall when the prince does when the king returns? Just because Prince John appointed her that means she’s “working with a traitor” and against King Richard? I don’t think so. The previous sheriff is dead (or so they think). A new sheriff needs to be appointed. King Richard gave Prince John the authority to do that. She was legally appointed by the man that King Richard left in charge. Unless she directly helps P...

Robin Hood 1x12 "The Return of the King"

Woo! We made it to the first half of the two part season one finale! These next two episodes are going to be an emotional rollercoaster, but a fun one! Djaq and Marian both get to absolutely shine in this episode too, which is fantastic (I think this episode is only the second or third instance in the entire show so far that passes the Bechdel Test, which isn't great...), and everyone involved in the cave scenes gets to really show off their acting abilities here in a big way. I'm excited for this one, so let's begin! Thoughts While Watching: Guy looks so awkward holding that bird. You don't feed your birds?! I'm calling PETA! The cave doesn't seem that bad. I'd rather be in there than out in the rain. "Bats are rats, rats with wings." This whole scene is great. I love Much. I didn't know that fact about bats was something they would've known back then. Makes sense that Djaq would be the one to know it. Djaq knows everything. ...

Robin Hood 1x11 "Dead Man Walking"

It's the Little John episode! I'll be honest, this isn't one I tend to rewatch all that often and it's not one of my favorites. There's nothing about it that I dislike or anything and I love that it goes into Little John's story more deeply, but it's not one of the fun episodes, you know? It's depressing. The sheriff literally throws a festival to torture peasants for entertainment, including children, John has to face the horrible consequences of all the poor decisions he's made, he has to say goodbye to the son he's barely known and will probably never get the chance to know, and he has to watch the wife he's still in love with leave with another man, all of which leave him with suicidal tendencies that don't get addressed until next season. It even has a call-back to another depressing episode with Roy's tag being brought up again, who was also like a son to John and whom he also lost. This is just a dark and depressing episode all...
