Robin Hood 3x07 "Too Hot to Handle"

Okay, so I vaguely remember this one and if I recall correctly it was so much fun! Is this the one where Robin and Isabella are getting sexy with the strawberries? I think it is! Let's begin!

Robin Hood (UK) 3x07 Too Hot to Handle - ShareTV

Thoughts While Watching

  • So we start off with a scene establishing that there's a massive heat wave and a drought which is obviously causing the poor to suffer while the gang struggle to try to help them. Then it cuts immediately to a sexy sweaty scene with Isabella and Prince John who are obviously not suffering at all in the castle. Love it.
  • Oh my God, Guy's just standing there awkwardly and hating every second while his sister is all over Prince John whispering into his ear about how hot he is. And then Guy complains and Isabella just gives him the best face ever. She knows how uncomfortable she's making him and she loves it.

  • Robin, don't you think the poor could use those strawberries more than Isabella? He's looking at her like her eating is the sexiest thing he's ever seen.

  • Oh, no! Prince John saw them getting sexy with the strawberries. I swear Robin seems more sexually attracted to Isabella in this scene than he ever has with anyone else on the entire show. Don't get me wrong, I love Robin/Marian, I think Robin loved Marian way more than he ever cared for Isabella or Kate, but the sexual energy in this scene is intense!
  • Okay, so Prince John's plan with the water is pretty much exactly what I said he should have done with the church. He's starting to get with the program a little bit. I don't remember how this turns out so I don't know if he sticks to the plan or acts stupid instead.
  • So here we have Guy clearly having some level of a conscience. He obviously doesn't want to execute his own sister and feels extremely uncomfortable that the prince is asking him to do that if she's found guilty. This definitely parallels the struggles he had with Marian and the sheriff. He just killed (or thought he killed) Vaisey because he forced him to choose between loyalty to him and protecting Marian and now he's in the same situation again.
  • "Bored now" again...It's becoming a catchphrase almost and I'm starting to not like it because I will always think of Willow from Buffy when I hear it.
  • I kind of feel like disguising Allan to use as a decoy for the guards isn't the best choice. Wouldn't most of them recognize him? I mean, I get that they don't in this scene, but that's just an unbelievably lucky break for the outlaws. Even with the disguise, he has such a distinctive accent and he was Guy's right hand man for over half of last season.
  • Lady, you should have just let Robin believe the bird story. Knocked his ego down a few notches. I loved Allan laughing at him too.
  • Aww, poor Robin and Much. I love that even Much agrees that it's not the same and he wishes he could have a family and a partner too. I think he's always sort of felt that way, but his love and devotion to Robin has always been enough for him. And Robin's obviously missing Marian and the life he would have had with her and he's confusing his newfound sexual attraction to Isabella for more than it really is because of that.
  • Tuck's wrong about Isabella's current motivations but he's definitely right that there's something wrong with her.
  • LMAO at Guy's face in this Robin/Isabella scene! Can he hear what she said?
  • I love that Robin brought up that Guy killed Marian, but it's a dangerous game. Guy could've just killed him on the spot if he was in a different mental state.
  • Aww, Robin telling Isabella to just do it and calling her a rubbish kisser so she's motivated to kill him. He's obviously trying to save her life and willing to sacrifice his own if necessary in the process.
  • Love the bickering after the fight is over and I really LOVE seeing Isabella wanting to kill Guy and Robin talking her down. It's an early sign that she's a darker character than what we've seen so far if she truly has a desire to kill her own brother out of vengeance and also shows just how horrible her marriage was for her to feel that way.
  • Couldn't they just search on the ground for the key?
  • Oh, God...I can't handle anything with sick or dying babies or children. I know this turns out okay, but I still really can't handle it. Ever since I became a mother, I really can't handle it at all.
  • Guy tied to the tree in the forest is some serious fanfic fuel.
  • I love this scene where Isabella asks Robin what Marian was like. I love the music in the background and Robin's reaction to the question. But there's some serious revisionist history going on here. Really, Robin? She never gave Guy a reason to feel anything for her? We must not have been watching the same show. I love Marian and I support her playing Guy the way she did, but that's exactly what she did. She played him. Not at first. At first it was just Guy's wishful thinking, gross obsession, and refusal to take no or obvious disinterest for an answer, but eventually she started playing the game.
  • Aww, the way Robin looks up to the sky. Breaks my heart. So sweet!
  • Okay, so...where is Tuck from exactly? What's his story? Let's take a minute to examine what we know. He has a British accent, he knew that one bishop or whatever he was in "Lost in Translation" and I think the guy knew him too, he was familiar with the legend of Robin Hood, and he obviously cares about the political situation in England, so that all leads to him being English. But he's talking about being in Anatolia, he arrived in a boat from somewhere else in his first episode, and I know this is a touchy topic but he's black which it was much more uncommon for black people to be living in England during this time period (though certainly not unheard of both in real history and in the show, as we've already had a few black characters but at least one of them was a foreigner). Is he originally from England (even if his ancestors weren't) and traveled as a...priest? monk? friar? What is he exactly in this show? They call him "Brother Tuck" instead of "Friar Tuck" so I'm really not sure. Is he still a friar? Forgive me, I have no idea what I'm talking about. Did they usually have to travel? Was he on the crusade too? Did they ever reveal his past in the show and I just forgot or is it a big mystery? I'm gonna go with he was travelling for the crusade for some reason and came back home to England. That's sounds like a reasonable theory until I figure out what's actually going on with him. I can't think of another reason why he'd be in Anatolia. But if that's the case, why has he never bonded with Robin and Much over it? I mean, I get that he probably wasn't actually fighting like they were, but still. Unless he truly is a foreigner but then why does he have an English accent? I guess when you live in a new area long enough you can pick up the accent, but he's had it since his first episode. I'm so confused.
  • Guy's forehead is so veiny and gross in this scene where he's talking about drowning Robin and Isabella.
  • Yeah, Kate...you are definitely jealous of Isabella. And even Prince John can see it.
  • And Prince John's definitely threatening to rape Kate now and he's not subtle about it.
  • How many times are we going to celebrate Robin Hood's death on this show when he's not actually dead yet?
  • Aww, so sweet and sad. Robin is obviously thinking about the life he wishes he could have had with Marian while Isabella is telling him about her dream.
  • Good choice on not letting Allan carry your baby, lady. The last time he held a baby he turned him upside down! But this is honestly so sad. She clearly wants to hold him as much and as long as possible because she's afraid he's going to die.
  • Isabella can't climb up herself?
  • Both of these girls are ridiculous. Kate says that he can't trust Isabella before she even starts with her crazy selfishness because...why exactly? Kate getting caught had nothing to do with Isabella. She's just hated her from the moment she laid eyes on her. And then Isabella immediately counters with trying to convince Robin to abandon Kate in the dungeon so the two of them can run off together, give up the heroics, and start a family? As if Robin would ever be able to live with himself knowing he left a friend to die so he could have that life. And from what we've seen of her so far, she seemed to genuinely care about the people, so she should feel the same way, but she doesn't. They're obviously jealous of each other and extremely self-centered. I don't like this at all. There's only two main female characters this season and all they do is backstab and fight over a guy. I hate this. I miss the good old days. You know, when Marian found out that Djaq was a woman living with Robin in the forest as part of the gang and there wasn't a hint of jealousy, she just immediately came up with a plan to save Djaq from the dungeon. Marian saved Djaq in that episode, then Djaq saved Marian's life in the season one finale, they worked together in season two, they lived together in season two, and Djaq cried when she figured out she wasn't going to be able to save her in the season two finale and cried at her funeral. There was never fighting over a guy or being jealous or oh, look, every female is in love with Robin. Djaq never felt attraction to him or jealousy over Robin getting engaged to Marian, she was happy for them. I miss that. I miss the female friendship and while I wish that there was more of it because there seriously wasn't enough and the first two seasons weren't perfect by any means, it was soooo soooo much better than this. I miss Djaq and Marian. Kate and Isabella are just...pathetic. Both of them. Pathetic, self-centered, backstabbers fighting over a guy.
  • Yeah, Isabella, you're right. You're not her. You're not Marian. You're a rebound. Sorry. That was like the worst thing you could have said in that moment.
  • "You've let the team down, Guy." LMAO
  • I love Guy telling Prince John off. He just doesn't care anymore.
  • I love this! Isabella vs. Robin and Guy vs. Prince John and then it switches to Guy vs. Isabella and Robin vs. Prince John, just everyone swordfighting and there are no allegiances anymore (except kind of Prince John and Isabella, even though he's wanted her dead for most of the episode). Then it switches to Robin vs. Guy. Everyone just hates each other.
  • Guy especially, I mean, he's killed Marian, he thinks he killed the sheriff, he just turned on his own sister and the prince, he's always hated Robin, it's just him against the whole world.
  • Oh, gross, Kate. That kiss came out of nowhere and she's practically throwing herself at him even though she just heard him tell Isabella that he liked her and would be with her if he could and that he misses Marian (but didn't say her name) and all that and she just goes and kisses him. For what? This is all trash.
  • Look at her obnoxious smile. She's like basically giving the middle finger to Isabella with that.
  • GROSS!!! That little wink thing between Robin and Kate. I hate EVERYTHING.
  • So glad that baby is okay though!

Final Thoughts

I really like the episode overall and it definitely has some major turning points in it. However, I HATE HATE HATE Robin/Kate and this episode was the start of that downward spiral to hell. I also hate how Isabella and Kate both fall head over heels in love with Robin to the point where they just don't care about anyone or anything else when they barely know him. I mean, Isabella really barely knows him, but at least Robin showed interest in her and they had some chemistry. Kate knows him a little better, but still not that well. She's still new to the group. And Robin has shown absolutely no interest in her, they have no chemistry, and his best friend has a major crush on her. Now, it's not Kate's problem that Much has a crush on her and she certainly doesn't have to be with him or anything, but speaking from real life experience, it's never a good idea to play that game and get in the middle of that mess. I mean, I did it and it ultimately worked out semi-okay for me, but it was a long, hard road getting there. And for Robin/Kate, a situation where he's basically viewing her as the rebound to his rebound who just happens to be convenient and willing to betray his best friend for that? Trash. And she knew he was mourning his dead wife and having a fling with someone else and barely notices her as anything more than a friend and his best friend is crushing hard on her and she's still like yeah, you know what, I'm gonna go for that guy. Why? What a mess. Why not Allan? She actually had chemistry with Allan. There is literally no chemistry between Robin and Kate, why did the writers force this down our throats?

Robin Hood 2x03 "Childhood"

This is a really cute episode! I loved seeing how the gang has already become legendary enough that they've reached a kind of superhero status for the local children who play as their favorite outlaw. The kids were adorable and the whole episode was sweet and fun. I definitely rewatch this one a lot and I'm excited to see it again, so let's begin! Alright, Guy fans...this pic is for you! Thoughts While Watching: The episode starts out with four little boys playing Robin Hood. We know which one is supposed to be Robin himself (Daniel), but I'm wondering who each of the rest of them are supposed to be. There's six outlaws total at this point so not all of them are going to be represented. I'm not sure if their outfits are just what they normally wear or if they're supposed to be dressed up as their chosen outlaw, because one of them seems to be wearing an outfit similar to Will's and another looks like he's wearing a vest that sort of remind...

Robin Hood 3x04 "Sins of the Father"

I took about a two month break from my rewatch. Since I last reviewed an episode I've been working on a Robin Hood fanfic (the rough draft is finished and I'm editing now and trying to work up the courage to post it), rewatching random episodes of other shows (kinda on a Charmed kick lately), and started a new rewatch of Robin Hood with a fan group I'm in. I've also, of course, been dealing with real life. I know quarantine is over for most people, but not my family! I'll still be out of work until at least the end of August (I work in a school and while I absolutely love my job, I'm honestly considering looking for a new one because I'm really concerned about the uncertainty of the upcoming school year) and my husband is still mostly working from home. At least that means I still have time to watch my shows! I think another reason the rewatch has been going so much slower for season three is that my heart is really just not in it. I love seasons one and two...

Robin Hood 3x05 "Let the Games Commence"

We left off last time with Kate officially joining the gang and I think, if I recall correctly, this episode has the first appearance of Isabella and the return of Guy. Is this the lion episode? I feel like this is the episode with a random lion in it, but I don't remember much else. Let's begin! Thoughts While Watching It's Isabella! I was right! Out of all the new characters for season three, she's the one I remember liking the best.  Yeah, kick his ass, girl! Love how she faked him out! Okay, so...I barely remember anything about season three which is making this difficult for me to understand. If I recall correctly, in the flashback episode (Bad Blood? I think...) it's revealed that Robin knew both Guy and Isabella when they were children. I'm guessing he just doesn't recognize her here. Do they bring up the fact that he knows her and knew Guy had a sister at all before that episode? Or do they just make it seem like Robin forgot about them? I...
