I finally made it to the two-part season three and series finale! This is part one, so the second to last episode of the show. My feelings on the ending of the show and especially on what happens in this episode are really mixed, so let’s see how this goes. I’m already upset just remembering what happens.
Thoughts While Watching
- Robin is adorable.
- Um…Robin/Kate is still the worst ship in the history of fictional relationships. And also her whispering “I bet you can’t do it with three” seductively in his ear makes me want to puke.
- The king’s coming home. I’m sick of this plot. I know this time it’s for real, even though he’ll end up getting captured on his way back, but I’m so sick of hearing about King Richard and all the millions of times he’s supposedly coming home.
- I’m laughing so hard at Isabella screaming "failure" in that guy’s face and slapping him. I love her. I mean, I HATE what she does in this episode and I hate her for it, but I still kind of love her somehow despite it.
- Um…uh…this Archer and Isabella scene is disturbingly erotic for being brother and sister. It reminds me of the sheriff and his sister. Does anyone on this show know how to have a normal sibling relationship? Will and Luke do I guess. Allan and Tom really didn't, although at least their relationship wasn't incesty. Guy and Isabella definitely don't have a healthy relationship either. Archer's relationship with everyone is bad. And even though we never actually saw Djaq's relationship with her brother, just the fact that she took on his name and persona after he died is enough to make me question it. I'm not saying it's incesty, but it is unhealthy. It wouldn't be if she only did it for protection and to be allowed to be a soldier, but the fact that she continues using his name after openly living as a woman is just...not great. Codependency that turned into hero-worship and idolatry, maybe? I don't like how she erases herself to continue on in his name. I mean, I think it's fascinating from a fictional character point of view but it's not healthy by any means.
- Gisborne is NOT one of you though. He JUST admitted that his only motivation is revenge.
- I’m tired of Robin saying that he trusts that Guy’s loyal. Why does he trust him? How does he trust him? I don’t. If Guy would have survived this whole mission and the show would have continued on in a realistic way (not just the writers doing what the fans wanted), I don’t think Guy would have stayed a good guy. He might not be evil for evil’s sake, but the man’s selfish. If he was going to end up a good guy eventually, which is possible, he wasn’t there yet. Like I’ve said before, his redemption arc has only just begun and he dies long before he’s actually redeemed. And the fact that Robin has all this newfound faith in Guy but won't show anywhere near the same level of faith in Allan and turns on him in an instant just makes me completely despise him.
- Oh, no…the Allan plan is put into motion.
- Um…why are all of Isabella and Archer’s scenes so incestuous? Am I the only one seeing this?
- Much, enough about Kate. I’m sick of hearing about her.
- This scene inspired me to write a fanfic set in season two about a different character who gets falsely accused of being a traitor. I’m in the final stages of editing it so it will be posted soon.
- This is so obviously a plot by Isabella. I hate all these douchebags.
- That scene is so painful to watch. Even after all Allan has done for them, he’s never truly been completely forgiven or trusted. It absolutely infuriates me. Robin is willing to trust Guy of fucking Gisborne more than he trusts Allan. For shame. I’m glad he dies next episode, he deserves no better after this stunt. I can’t believe that the last time Allan ever sees his friends, the last conversation he ever has with them, is Robin threatening him and John tying him up while telling him to not even look at him. I hate these assholes. I hate them. Just last episode Allan and John had that conversation about how they were a family and now John treats him this way with no real evidence? Just Isabella’s word? The same Isabella that he doesn’t trust? Fuck him.
- So Robin knows damn well they might not survive this plan but he’s okay with leaving Allan tied up in the camp anyway? He’s okay with him slowly starving to death all alone? FUCK HIM.
- Oh, my God…this isn’t love, Kate. You’re just a convenient rebound.
- So Allan says he gave him the best years of his life, plural. Which means it really has been years. That means my theory that show time moves differently than real-life time is correct. I’ve pointed out before that in the show a year goes by between mid-season one and mid-season two even though historically all of this should take place in 1192.
- I’m tired of Tuck’s speeches. He reminds me of Buffy in season 7.
- Allan’s last act in life is trying to run to warn Robin who 100% does NOT deserve his warning or Allan caring about him at all. Allan’s last act in life is running from guards in the forest, just like in the very first scene in the show. It’s kind of beautiful and touching that his first and last scenes mirror each other and that his last act was of loyalty despite the fact that he never regained their trust. He went from the betrayer to the betrayed. He ends up killed by the same man he used to work for when he betrayed them. Everything about his death has meaning but it’s still so painful to watch. Allan has the best character arc of anyone on this show. He deserved so much better, but at the same time, it’s nice to see how everything with this fits so perfectly. I still wish he had lived, but if he was going to die, dying in this way where all of his past catches up to him and he dies trying to save the same people who turned on him really shows that he did achieve redemption. He deserved better friends though, I hate all of the rest of them. Except Much. No matter what Much does, I can never truly hate Much.
- This scene really got me the first time I saw it. I thought Much died. I thought Much and Allan both just died and I was ready to riot. They’re pretty much the only two I still really cared about.
- Come on, random guard. Do it. Kill Kate.
- And Archer saves her. Damn.
- Who is even fighting who right now? What’s happening? Whatever, who cares.
- Robin finally realized that Allan’s innocent. Too little too late.
- Ugh…so this really is just going to be two girls fighting over a guy. Come on, writers. Do better.
- Yeah, you should ALL feel guilty. Allan’s last memories of his “friends” were YOU betraying HIM. Fuck you all. I hate all of you.
- I’m really glad they brought the sheriff back. The final showdown needed to be between Robin and Vaisey.
Final Thoughts
Everyone except Allan can burn in hell. That is all.
Rest in peace to the most interesting and complex character
on the show with the most well written character arc. He deserved so much
better.
He deserved to have Robin hear him out and actually care
about the fact that he’d been tortured back in Ducking and Diving.
He was right that the gang deserved to be getting a little
something for themselves instead of giving it ALL away.
He deserved better than Robin trying to kill him in the
castle in season two and he deserved better than Djaq’s half-assed attempt at
talking him out of it and then giving up.
He deserved credit for saving Will’s life in Lardner’s Ring,
which he never got.
He deserved to get Djaq. Will/Djaq is boring and there’s no
chemistry there.
He deserved better friends.
He deserved to be forgiven.
He deserved their trust.
He deserved better than to be tied up and left to fucking die
alone.
I hate everything.
I love Allan and everyone that turned on him can go to hell.
Rest in peace.
