Secret Diary of a Call Girl 1x01

Time to start my rewatch of Secret Diary of a Call Girl! I really thought I would finish Robin Hood first and then move onto either Buffy the Vampire Slayer or Charmed, but I decided that first I wanted to watch something that’s easier to binge. Both of those shows are loooonnnnngggg. Buffy has 7 seasons and a spinoff with 5 seasons and Charmed has 8 seasons, both have 45 minute episodes, and their seasons are all over 20 episodes each. I’ll almost certainly end up switching between them and watching other shows in between because I’ll get bored of the same thing all the time if I don’t. And both seem daunting after Robin Hood. I’m not even finished with Robin Hood yet and it already feels like it’s too much. And I will finish Robin Hood, I swear. But those last few episodes are just emotionally draining and I have to be in the right mindset to appreciate them.

But this, this show is absolutely perfect for an easy binge watch. Secret Diary of a Call Girl has half hour episodes (shorter with the commercials out), eight episodes per season, and only four seasons. It’s funny, mostly lighthearted, sexy, romantic, and filled with just the right amount of drama to balance out the comedy goodness. It’s my guilty pleasure show and I’ve rewatched it more times than I care to admit. It’s just plain fun. The only challenging part is going to be finding all the episodes online. Let’s get started!

Thoughts While Watching

  • This is such an iconic opening scene. “The first thing you should know about me is that I’m a whore.”
  • By the way, I’ve read the book this is based on. It’s good, but the show is much better.
  • “I’m very high class” she says while she’s sitting on the toilet. Love it.
  • Loving sex and money, being fundamentally lazy, and wanting to be your own boss…sounds like me.
  • Yikes, this guy’s sideburns are super repulsive. Fat and old doesn’t bother me, I’ve had both, but those sideburns. Gross.
  • This show has some of the weirdest dirty talk and roleplay.
  • Hannah and Ben are so cute together. I shipped them so hard.
  • I love the spoiled little rich girl game. They’re adorable! Ben’s attitude is cracking me up.
  • I’m not loving this dress on her in the scene with Daniel.
  • She looks so much prettier without the full Belle look. Just my opinion. She’s beautiful both ways.
  • I wear shoes in my own house all the time. Daniel’s weird.
  • This first episode seems to have more sex scenes than a lot of later episodes do. We’re on the third one in 16 minutes.
  • I want that lamp she has in her bedroom.
  • I love this horse riding scene!

Final Thoughts

That flew by! It’s so easy to binge this show. I’ve accidentally watched a whole season in one night before without even realizing it. That was super fun!

One random thought sort of related to the entire show, not just this episode:

It makes me nervous that she always hosts clients at her house. I think it would be so much safer to just exclusively meet them at hotels. It’s a public place, there are other people around if things get bad, and most importantly, they don’t know where you live. Any one of these guys could have turned into creeps (and a few of them do) and could come back at anytime since they know where she lives. It also wouldn’t be that hard for them to figure out her real identity if they have her address. It’s still probably safer than going to their homes, but it’s not safe.

Robin Hood 2x03 "Childhood"

This is a really cute episode! I loved seeing how the gang has already become legendary enough that they've reached a kind of superhero status for the local children who play as their favorite outlaw. The kids were adorable and the whole episode was sweet and fun. I definitely rewatch this one a lot and I'm excited to see it again, so let's begin! Alright, Guy fans...this pic is for you! Thoughts While Watching: The episode starts out with four little boys playing Robin Hood. We know which one is supposed to be Robin himself (Daniel), but I'm wondering who each of the rest of them are supposed to be. There's six outlaws total at this point so not all of them are going to be represented. I'm not sure if their outfits are just what they normally wear or if they're supposed to be dressed up as their chosen outlaw, because one of them seems to be wearing an outfit similar to Will's and another looks like he's wearing a vest that sort of remind...

Robin Hood 3x04 "Sins of the Father"

I took about a two month break from my rewatch. Since I last reviewed an episode I've been working on a Robin Hood fanfic (the rough draft is finished and I'm editing now and trying to work up the courage to post it), rewatching random episodes of other shows (kinda on a Charmed kick lately), and started a new rewatch of Robin Hood with a fan group I'm in. I've also, of course, been dealing with real life. I know quarantine is over for most people, but not my family! I'll still be out of work until at least the end of August (I work in a school and while I absolutely love my job, I'm honestly considering looking for a new one because I'm really concerned about the uncertainty of the upcoming school year) and my husband is still mostly working from home. At least that means I still have time to watch my shows! I think another reason the rewatch has been going so much slower for season three is that my heart is really just not in it. I love seasons one and two...

Robin Hood 3x05 "Let the Games Commence"

We left off last time with Kate officially joining the gang and I think, if I recall correctly, this episode has the first appearance of Isabella and the return of Guy. Is this the lion episode? I feel like this is the episode with a random lion in it, but I don't remember much else. Let's begin! Thoughts While Watching It's Isabella! I was right! Out of all the new characters for season three, she's the one I remember liking the best.  Yeah, kick his ass, girl! Love how she faked him out! Okay, so...I barely remember anything about season three which is making this difficult for me to understand. If I recall correctly, in the flashback episode (Bad Blood? I think...) it's revealed that Robin knew both Guy and Isabella when they were children. I'm guessing he just doesn't recognize her here. Do they bring up the fact that he knows her and knew Guy had a sister at all before that episode? Or do they just make it seem like Robin forgot about them? I...
